A Mix of the Old and New on School Board
Prince George, B.C. – Voters have selected a mix of the old and the new in School District 57.
Four incumbents are back on the board (Tim Bennett, Trish Bella, Sharel Warrington, Brenda Hooker) as are three new faces (Bruce Wiebe, Tony Cable, Bob Harris).
Board chairperson Sharel Warrington says it’s a strong team.
“All the experience the seven members bring to the board will serve the board well. Each one of us will bring talents and skills and abilities that will make the board shine.”
Bob Harris is one of those new faces and admits it’s likely no mistake each had long histories with the district either as administrators or teachers.
“I think people value some experience and it’s important that they have knowledge of how the system operates and can ask questions that are meaningful and will resonate with the general public.”
Tim Bennett who is back for his second term on board says he’s “speechless and humbled to be re-elected.”
It is also notable on how little he spent on his re-election campaign (a shade over $400).
“With my non-profit background I have always thought election spending was a little bit crazy and believe that our local not-for-profits can use that money much more than I could buying a few signs.”
But like Warrington, he thinks voters have selected a great team.
“It’s going to be a real strong team. It’s going to be a good mix of experience, of background, of gender.”

Wow, they sure move fast, they have already elected a chairperson in the form of one Sharel Warrington or is that a self appointment?
She’s still the chairperson until the new group is sworn in. Even if she had not been re-elected.
