Toy Drive Benefits Less Fortunate at Christmas
Prince George, B.C. – REAPS (Recycling, Environmental Action Planning Society) is holding its 18th annual toy drive today.
Executive director Terri McClymont says it will run from 10 am to 2 pm at its Gorse Street location.
She says the goal is to make sure all kids receive toys this Christmas season.
“It’s about giving back to the community. Everyone at Christmas time and during the holiday season are receiving new toys, new gifts and we just want to remember the less fortunate.”
She say they’re looking for quality used toys for kids aged 0-18, “so if it’s a puzzles, all the pieces are there. If it’s a truck it has all four wheels.”
McClymont says close to 20 organizations have made requests for donations and estimates over 300 children will benefit.
And in addition to accepting toys, she says they will also be collecting for the SPCA.
“We’re collecting anything from garbage bags, paper towels, blankets, leashes, to toys.”
