Where’s the Snow?

Saturday, November 22, 2014 @ 8:51 AM

Prince George, B.C. – It’s highly unlikely Prince George will receive its average 36 cm of snowfall this November.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says another weather system is moving through the area this weekend and says it will give us a chance of showers mixed with snow but says it likely won’t stick due to the warmer temperatures.

“We won’t see anything accumulating until at least Tuesday or Wednesday. Until the end of this month it’s looking like we won’t have much snow.”

He attributes the lack of snow to “really mild waters off the eastern Pacific.”

But Lundquist, who grew up in the Peace region, says the lack of snow isn’t that unusual.

“I don’t think it’s totally impossible. I remember some times in the Peace we didn’t have snow the middle of November.”

Snow or no snow we’ll hear the same thing about the snow removal being over budget.

Having no snow doesn’t hurt my feelings at all. The longer it stays away, the better.

Would like snow for Christmas Day then it can go away, and the Winter Games People can truck it in…

If you want to truck it in snow is going cheap in Buffalo.

I’ve lived in PG for 18 years now and in that time we have had 7 green Christmases in which the grass was still visible where no snow had yet fallen or had fallen but melted. This is nothing new even way back in the early 1900’s several years here in PG snow had not been recorded falling until mid to late December.

When I first came to PG in the late 70’s, by halloween we had snowbanks on the side of the road. Dearth if you only been here 18 yrs you never expeienced an old fashion PG winter.

Dearth I ahve been here over 40 years and can only remember 1 green Christmas…..and it was just barely green….
I guess I don’t live in the same part of town as you do….
but onwards and upwards, it will be what it is when it happens.

F151 I grew up in the mountains I do know what snow is and I do know what it means to be “snowed” in very few people know what that truly means

Is that what city plow trucks are doing driving around our subdivisions eating up tax dollars, wondering where the snow is? They can’t claim to be sanding icy spots without a sander on board.

Lets not jinx it …. I’m quite happy with the lack of “sticking” snow …. green Christmases are fine with me ….. I don’t have to shovel rain

Remember – no plows till 12 cm; of course, it depends where you live .
The jinx is all the info. the city put out on snow removal – could have save the tax payers $21,000.

What ever changes have taken place at YRB are for the better, first time in 10 years Peden Hill has not been shut down by November the 20th, Congrats Boys-Keep er up.

restjet, you’re joking right?
