Prince George, B.C. – Operation Red Nose is back for its 19th year of operation tomorrow night. oprn

The holiday driving service allows partiers the chance to get themselves and their cars home safely after enjoying a few drinks.

Red Nose organizers have received 190 volunteer applications so far which will enable them to put 18 teams on the road Friday night.

Volunteer coordinator Karen Toombs says they’ll need 450 over the holiday season and is confident they’ll reach their target.

“Prince George is one of those places that you call for the volunteers and they think about it for a while then they show up.”

Volunteers must be 19 years old and have a valid driver’s license. Applications, which include a Criminal Record Check form, are available online at www.ornpg.ca.

Volunteers can simply fill it out, print it out and take it, along with their driver’s license, to the RCMP’s main detachment on Victoria Street.

They can perform a number of duties including dispatching, answering phones or driving.

Last year, Operation Red Nose provided 1008 safe rides home over the nine nights it was in operation.
