Prince George, B.C. – There’s a definite “getting close to Christmas” feeling in the air around Prince George, with seasonal displays beginning to appear in all sorts of locations.

Last time I ran into Lisa Smith was December 22nd, 2012. She was putting the finishing touches on her massive Christmas village display upstairs at the Railway and Forestry Museum. And there she was again on Saturday, a little earlier in the process and this time with another pair of helping hands.

Smith and Kirsten Korte haven’t been counting the number of hours that have gone into putting this year’s display together but they say it is substantial. Smith, who is doing this for the fourth year in a row, says “it’s just a lot of fun so I don’t keep track.” She does say she has made a number of additions over last year’s display, including a whale pond and another large water scene.

The ladies hope to have it all done by December 6th as that’s when the museum is hosting its first party of the Christmas season. Once public viewing hours are set a notification will be issued.
