Vanderhoof Under AQ Advisory
Vanderhoof, B.C.- An Air Quality advisory has been issued for Vanderhoof.
Ministry of the Environment advises levels of fine particulates are above advisory levels. The current 1 hour average PM2.5 measured at the Vanderhoof Courthouse is 44 micrograms per cubic meter, and the average for the past 24 hours is 39 micrograms per cubic metre. Both, well above the Province target of 25 micrograms per cubic metre.
Sources of fine particulates contributing to this air quality episode include wood smoke (wood stoves and/or open burning) as well as emissions from industry and transportation sources such as automobiles, trucks and rail traffic.
There is a burning ban in place as well, with no new fires to be started within a 25km radius of Vanderhoof, and no new material to be added to any existing fires.
The AQ advisory is expected to last until Friday.
