Prince George, B.C. – In what has become a holiday tradition in Prince George the outdoor ice oval officially opens this morning.

“Thanks to hard work by our crew of dedicated volunteers, and support from the City of Prince George, the oval is ready to open at 11,” says Outdoor Ice Oval Society president Kathy Lewis.

She says this year’s opening comes a bit earlier compared to last year thanks to last month’s cold snap.

The opening will include mugs of hot chocolate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The daily drop in rate for skaters is $2 or $5 for a family and for the first time this year they’ll be offering seasons passes.
