Breakfast Club Gets Kids Off to Right Start
Prince George, B.C.- Ron Brent Elementary School in Prince George is the focus of attention this morning, as TransCanada Pipeline helps serve up a healthy start for kids.
Trans Canada is funding a breakfast program at the school, in partnership with the Breakfast Club of Canada.
The Breakfast Club is a national organization which hopes to give all children an equal opportunity to be successful in school by providing a healthy breakfast.
According to the Club, one in 7 children in Canada starts the school day on an empty stomach. According to the Breakfast Club research shows a healthy breakfast can help students improve:
- Behaviour and concentration
- Academic performance
- Social skills, self-confidence and the ability to interact with peers and adults
- Overall interest in the subjects being taught
- Reduce Incidents of bullying
Ron Brent Elementary in Prince George is not the only School in B.C. which is being supported by cash donations from Trans Canada, the company is also supporting the program at a school in Terrace. Corporate partnership has also seen RioTinto Alcan support a school in the Terrace area.
