RCMP talk with drivers during road check last Friday

Prince George, B.C.- The numbers  are out  for the first  full weekend of  the CounterAttack  program in Prince George.

From Friday December 5th to Sunday December 7th hundreds of vehicles in Prince George were checked during both stationary and mobile CounterAttack road checks. Despite   reminding folks  the program  is underway, there were still  numerous  drivers issued  immediate roadside prohibitions  and  vehicles impounded

Here are the weekend details:

  • 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) & 30 day Vehicle Impound (VI) – 5
  • 7 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition & 7 day Vehicle Impound – 1
  • 24 hour Driving Prohibition for Drugs – 2
  • 24 hour Driving Prohibition for Alcohol – 1
  • 12 hour Driving Prohibition (New Driver) for Alcohol – 1
  • Drive Contrary to Restrictions – 1
  • Fail to Stop for Police – 1
  • Drive without Due Care and Attention – 1
  • Vehicle Impound due to 24 hour Driving Prohibition – 1

Police are also calling on businesses to ensure their employees have a safe alternate way of getting home from the company parties as  four of the people charged with an impaired driving offence were coming from company sponsored celebrations.

Four of the seven vehicles impounded did not belong to the drivers. One of the four belonged to a business. Despite the fact the owners were not driving, those vehicles are still subject to impoundment for up to 30 days. Police  ask that you think twice before you hand over keys to  someone.

Once again, Prince George RCMP are reminding  drivers there are several options  for those who want to get into the Holiday ‘Spirit’  and get  home safely:

  • Call a friend or family  member to pick you up
  • Have a designated driver,
  • call a taxi
  • use public transit,
  • call Operation Red Nose.

CounterAttack enforcement will continue throughout the month.

At least everyone was wearing seatbelts……

Oh boy, that’s gotta be a fun Monday morning for whoever got the company truck impounded.

Its like driving with cell phones the numbers are there to back it up and the accidents to prove that it happened yet people still continue to drive drunk some will never learn the lesson and others will pay the ultimate price.

How does one drive without undue care at at roadblock

One failing to stop??/ musta been quite the chase

Numbers are pretty low considering that many of the ‘1’s on the list are all probably for the same driver and incident.

maybe

Johnny, I was gonna mention that the numbers are lower than usual. I’m really hoping it’s because folks are getting the message to wise up.

And Stillsmoking whatever your smoke is, the charge is and always has been “Driving without due care and attention” Without undue care, is funny!
No, not a language cop.
Coulda been the way he entered the traffic stop, such a way as to endanger the traffic stop, maybe?
I’ve seen people turn around and try and go the other way. It’s funny when they’re going the wrong way in the lane they just came up.

There are two ways to drive:

1) with Due Care and Attention
2) without Due Care and Attention

The “undue care” thing is a red herring, albeit somewhat funny!

The police folks could be out every night of the year..365 days, 24/7….maybe this would change the driving habits of these poopers in pg.

Sorry, forgot to say…..grab those texters and phone- a- holics…..counted
22 on my way to work today. And the woman standing in the line at Timmies,,,I wanted to take your phone and physically shove it up your ass. What the hell is so important, or scary to you that you may excuse yourself from the line instead of creating drama all the way there and not knowing what you want….and when it kicked in,,,it was a special order, half mayo, not butter, toasted, 1/4 cream 3/4 milk….girl….you are 300 lbs…..what the hell. trough toss…..sorry for the rant…..be some of us are organized and are on time management.

whatever, grizzly2… you know what I was referring to..

The police actually advertise they will be out and about looking for drunk drivers etc and yet they still catch people.. you cant fix stupid.

HEY WILLY I gather she didn’t buy your coffee!
