Search Underway For New UNBC Chancellor
Prince George, B.C. – The University of Northern British Columbia is now accepting nominations for the school’s next chancellor.
The person presently holding the position, Chancellor John MacDonald, was first appointed in 2010 and will complete his second, three-year term in 2016. The chancellor is responsible for conferring all degrees and acts as an ambassador for the university within the community.
The Alumni Association at UNBC is looking for nominations of people who have an established relationship with the university, who understand the regional focus of the institution, who are adept at ceremony and have been distinguished in their career. There is no remuneration associated with the position however applicable travel expenditures are covered by the university.
The Alumni Association will consult with the UNBC Senate during the selection process and recommend a candidate to the Board of Governors. The successful nominee will be announced in the fall of 2015 and will be installed at the Convocation Ceremony in May 2016.

Previous chancellors have included Iona Campagnolo, appointe the very first chancellor in 1992, Dr. George Pedersen, Dr. Peter Bentley and Dr. Alex Michalos.
