IIO Continues Stabbing Investigation, Seeking Witnesses
Prince George, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office is seeking witnesses to a stabbing earlier this month.
It relates back to December 8th when the Prince George RCMP notified the IIO about an incident involving three pedestrians and two RCMP officers in the area of 3rd Avenue and Dominion Street.
Police say when they attempted to arrest one of the pedestrians (who had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest) an officer was stabbed.
While taking the suspect into custody, police noticed the suspect had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries to his neck.
Mounties seized a knife as evidence and both men (suspect and the officer) were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.
After conducting a preliminary investigation, the IIO has sustained jurisdiction and is in Prince George conducting investigative tasks.
“The IIO has information that suggests that there were witnesses in the area at the time of the incident and that video recordings or still photographs may have been taken,” says the IIO.
Anyone with information is asked to call the IIO at 778-988-1041.
