P.G. Air on Board to Sponsor Free Transit Days

Friday, December 19, 2014 @ 1:14 PM

Prince George, B.C.- P.G. AIR  is the latest  to sign on to sponsor  two days of free transit during the Canada Winter Games.

The sponsorship is the result  of  a push by   an initiative  undertaken by students at  the University of Northern B.C.

“UNBC Students Pave the Way” aims  to raise enough money to provide FREE public transportation for everyone during the 18 days of  the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.

In order to offset the costs of transit  ($2,100.00 per day) they are reaching out to members of the community to contribute towards this cause.

P.G. AIR  is sponsoring two days,  the City of Prince George  has committed to  sponsoring a day and  the Regional District of Fraser Fort George is sponsoring a day.

The students are accepting monetary donations (www.unbc.ca/giving) as well as donations from returns at bottle depots at both the Nechako Bottle Depot and the PG Recycling & Return-It Centre (account: “UNBC Students Pave the Way”)..

The City is only giving ONE day ?????

The visitors are gonna love our transit system. What is it, an hour between buses?

wow, I’m sure the earth is going to make a huge turnaround now. Oh wait, it’s all for nothing unless China and India are on board, but lets pretend ‘free bus day’ is a big deal.

The City of PG and the Regional District are sponsoring? That is using taxpayer’s money that run the bus system anyway! More explanation required by the media.

i ride the bus love the bus butt this is a bad idea. Why should visitors get free transit? we alredy paying for the games in our taxes and now they can afford to come here and not pay 2.50 for a ride? too bad our own citizens dont get such consideration.

If you were visiting another city for a special event, wouldn’t it be nice if everyone there was friendly to you, and many of the venues were within walking distance of your accommodations and to get to the venues that are some distance away there was a free bus ride?

What if there were nice restaurants to go to and special Games events every evening that you did not have to pay for?

Wouldn’t you come away thinking that is a pretty nice town, and mention it to your friends when you got home?

I guess I’m suggesting that we welcome our Winter Games visitors, and let them know we’re glad they came.

Making people feel good about their experience in your city might make them want to come back.

metalman.

“P.G. Air” is what most of the first time visitors will be talking about after they determine it actually wasn’t someone in the car that caused them all to gag. ☻

‘What if there were nice restaurants to go to and special Games events every evening that you did not have to pay for? ‘ – lol, are you kidding? Now we should be buying them meals?
