Boxing Day, with all the madness that follows the shopping frenzy of the season.
So much to consider as we open the gates for the final Friday Free for All of 2014.
You pick the topic, but please, obey the three simple rules:
Keep it clean
Keep it legal
No bullying.

When are the cops in this town going to start giving out tickets for failing to signal. It seams the majority of drivers in this town wont signal until they are turning the wheel.
I don’t know, Doneright but it sure makes you appreciate the ones that do, doesn’t it?

The majority of the people behind the wheel have an IQ of about 80. Don’t expect miracles any time soon. :)
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!
Since this is he last Friday of 2014…
a Safe and Happy New Year (2015) to all…
MAJORITY OF PEOPLE?
where do you get your facts on IQ?
could it possibly just be the majority of people you NOTICE…
we tend not to be alerted to good drivers as they are not some sort of possible threat and they act like they have low IQ?.
yes there are a number of not so good drivers out there…
and Prince George seems to be famous for these…
(I have been to a few other places and they have the same type of drivers)
—no turn signals
—speeding
—tailgating
—irratic driving
—dangerous lane changes
—distracted drivers
and our wonderful impaired drivers…can’t forget those
my favorite….
people who drive at night using only their daytime driving lights…
information for you that do…. your tail lights don’t come on and we can not see you from behind very well…..
So now does it snow enough for the Winter Games?
We shall soon see
have a good day all….
Only 3 of the 19 (is it) events require snow. We can buy some. ;-)
Was entertaining driving around town last night watching people park their vehicles in parking lots getting ready for today by 930 last night there were over 30 vehicles in future shop parking lot and the mall had a fab out 20 vehicles parked in front of target.
What people will do to get a deal
MAJORITY OF PEOPLE?
where do you get your facts on IQ?

It’s called hyperbole. Look it up.
From my family to yours, hope you had a merry Christmas and a Happy and heavily opinionated 2015 :-)
Ben, have you given any thought to a ‘Curmudgeon’s Corner’ section to 250 news? It would give a place for the experts and X truck drivers (disclaimer: truck driving is good honest work) to air their considerable knowledge and beliefs , kind of like a 250 News Wikipedia for us mere mortals. :) :)
Whether people signal doesn’t seem to be related to intelligence. My late father was a medical doctor, presumably a pretty bright guy, but I would say that he signalled only about 10% of turns and lane changes. I suspect that its determined by personality: not wanting to seem to ask permission, impetuousness, something like that.
“for the experts and X truck drivers,to air their considerable knowledge”
You can’t be serious! Worst drivers in Canada! There may be a couple who
know how to drive, never seen any comments to that effect on here.
LMAO.
Snappy Hoo Year!
A person can be intelligent in one narrow field which in no way implies they have common sense or a wide degree of smarts.
I think why some people don’t signal lane changes is the fear that in doing so the vehicle in the other lane will speed up to close the gap and not let them in. Some people can’t stand having someone in front of them. I’d say that’s been my experience about 25% of the time when I try to move to the inside lane to make a turn coming up.
For all those that think we have the worst drivers you should get out of town. There are bad drivers everywhere, there are also good drivers everywhere as well. You only have to drive well once, when getting your liscense. Besides that it’s a crap shoot.
My fav still, are the people coming across Cameroon street bridge at well over the speed limit because they think they can bully the other drivers approaching the traffic circle. Next are the ones that don’t put their signal light on by the brewery showing they are heading to town so they can get on the ramp even though they don’t have the right of way.

My pet peeve with the roundabout are those inconsiderate louts who don’t have the courtesy to signal when they intend to exit when they can clearly see someone waiting to get on.
I have a problem with the lack of observation (or impatience) numerous drives have with pedestrians at uncontrolled but marked crosswalks. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to stand there waiting with my dog, while cars keep zooming through. This is daylight, not in the pitch of darkness, and I wear a bright red jacket. It usually takes 4-5 cars before somebody stops.
One time on a weekend, a police officer happened to be near a particular crosswalk I use, and all the drivers were on their best behaviour. So it’s quite apparent that most drivers just don’t give a sh!t, unless enforcement is watching.
A note to other pedestrians out there, please be extra vigilant if you have to cross a larger four lane road. My wife and I almost got taken out when the car in the right lane stopped for us, but some a-hole in a Beemer was impatient, pulled out from behind, into the left lane and passed through while were already committed to crossing.
I really wish everything retail related was closed on December 25. If it’s part of your religious philosophy or not, why can’t we all just take the day off.
Pval posted “. Next are the ones that don’t put their signal light on by the brewery showing they are heading to town so they can get on the ramp even though they don’t have the right of way.”
I’m not sure I follow you here – signalling or not shouldnt change who has the right of way?
I agree axman, even if you have different religious beliefs all retail should be closed to,allow families to get together. It’s one day a year….
I have to disagree. It’s not up to you or anybody else what is or isn’t open on Christmas Day. I don’t work on that day but that’s fine for me and those around me.
Plenty of people don’t have a family to celebrate with, and others don’t celebrate the holiday at all. So because of your beliefs everything should be shuttered completely? We’re not celebrating Diwali or Hanukkah on the 25th. Everybody (at some point) gets a day off with family during the year. We don’t work in 24/7 365 sweatshops. (aside from 7-Eleven :D )
Other retailers need to be open regardless of opinion, such as some pharmacies have to be open on Christmas, and gas stations.
interceptor I think that is because there is a yield sign if you are turning right onto the ramp but if you are turning left you have to wait for through traffic so if someone doesn’t signal their right turn and you are turning left you have to wait till you are sure they aren’t going straight through the light and by then they can beat you to the ramp. (I don’t drive there very often so am partly guessing.)

That is why we like it so much!
Interceptor, I was talking about the ones heading east.. They have the choice of going straight on through, turning left or right, if they turn right they have a yield sign to a,low the traffic from the mills the right of way.. But of course if they are going straight through they have the right of way.. So they don’t signal till the last minute or not at all when turning right to make the ones heading west to get onto the ramp the idea that they are going straight through… So they then turn right and make the ones with the right of way have to wait. It’s not a big thing…just a rude thing.
“My fav still, are the people coming across Cameroon street bridge”
I didn’t know the bridge was named after the Republic of Cameroon. Thanks for the info! :-)
Does the ability to use grammar and spelling properly indicate intelligence or knowledge? And does one indicate you have the other? Just thinking out loud. Personally I think it indicates knowledge not necessarily intellegence.
:-)
Slow day on the Friday File! What, is everyone at the stores, looking for bargains?
LOL…sounds like there all down at Cameroon roundabout. :)
One time I was westbound on N.Nechako heading for the bypass and some older guy in a Bronco didn’t signal his turn up onto the highway ramp. I was in a chip truck and came to a stop to wait for him to come straight through. His arrogance and inconsideration made me angry. Up at 5th avenue he stopped, waiting for the light. I was in the right hand through lane. I had seen the light change and knew I had a couple of minutes. I jumped out of the truck, took my tire thumping hammer along and went up to his window. I was loud. I asked him if his signal lights worked. He had his left one on to turn down 5th. I know your left one is working, does you right one work too? He looked a little shook up. He tried it. I went to the front of his truck and looked, I went back and yelled, I does work, so why don’t you use it?
As I walked back to my truck I noticed a cop sitting at the light waiting to cross the bypass. He had watched the whole thing. I chuckled.
Maybe that guy used his signals after that. Hope so.
I just want to say thanks to the excellent drivers in our town. There are lots of them, but we tend to notice dumbasses because they stick out like sore thumbs.
And yes, there are many professional truckers out there as well. If you take the lead, drive safely, perhaps some of these “dumbasses” will catch on to what safe driving is all about. All we can do is set the example and hope.
In my past life, I’ve attended fatal accidents, I have done next of kin notifications, a very sobering experience. If some of these folk who drive when they’ve been drinking could see the shock and understand the grief that folks go through because of their decisions to drive, well, perhaps they’d think twice.
Hope everyone gets home safe over the holidays.
thinkagainplease, it is neither! Cameroon Street? Relax. It is funny! That’s all! :-)
Happy St. Stephen’s Day.
Grammar police are out I see, lol..

No they don’t. Not even close to being “needed”.
