Prince George, B.C. – 2014 was quite a year for Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall which he says was capped off with his election victory November 15th.

“It was a lot of work, it was a lot of fun, I met a tremendous amount of people through the campaign and couldn’t be happier with the result.”

He says he’s also pleased with some of the things that went on around the council table.

“I think the thing that really sticks out for me is the work we’ve done on the roads over the years. Both our pothole repair work and our resurfacing work.”

Hall is also pleased with the strides the city has made when it comes to snow removal.

“We had a tremendous snowfall here three, four weeks ago and the crews did an unbelievable job.”

He says 2015 promises to be “a milestone year in the history of our city” which includes the long awaited Canada Winter Games.

“Everybody is starting to buzz now. The buzz is all over the city it seems. I’ve got friends that have just signed up to volunteer and they’re excited.”

Hall says it may sound cliché but he figures the games will put the city on the map.

“It’s going to put us on the map provincially and nationally and that’s real important for our city. I think we’re seeing a lot of people across Canada becoming more interested in what Prince George is all about and what it has to offer.”

He admits once the games end there will be a bit of a let down but notes it shouldn’t last long considering 2015 also marks the city’s centennial and UNBC’s 25th anniversary.

“Councillor Krause chairs the 100th celebration committee and I sit on that with him and the intent of that committee is to celebrate the 100th for the entire year, not just bits and pieces of it so when the games are over there will still be a lot of celebration in the city.”

Hall says he’s also looking forward to some important work council has planned.

“We have a planning session near the end of January and that’s where we’re going to set the strategic goals for this council for the next four years. Another priority is establishing the committee structure.”

You drive around pot holes and like Mayor Moffat said a long time ago, “it will all go away in the spring’.

I would start to worry about infrastructure like water and sewer.

Happy New Year to all you people up I PG. Have good year.
Cheers

‘“We had a tremendous snowfall here three, four weeks ago and the crews did an unbelievable job.”’? Really Lynn? 15cm is ‘tremendous’ now? It was +7 4 days after the snow, mother nature took care of a lot of the issues. Looks like the next 7 days will be the test…

No worries….PG is finally going to be on the map. :-D

The snow clearing crews scraped off about an inch and a half of snow off of my street last week. They must be getting bored sitting around.
