Prince George Gets Set to Ring in the New Year
Prince George, B.C. – Locals wanting to ring in the new year and enjoy a few drinks in the process have some safe transportation options this evening.
Operation Red Nose will be on the roads until 4:00 a.m. (by calling 250-962-RIDE) with 34 volunteer teams.
“We had some late applications come through in the last couple of days and those who’ve helped us out every weekend are returning for what
promises to be our busiest night of the season as we ring in 2015” says Red Nose organizer Andrea Johnson.
So far, after eight nights of service, Operation Red Nose volunteers have delivered 919 safe rides home, 32 shy of the 951 rides that are needed to reach the 10,000th-ride mark in the Operation Red Nose 17-year history.
That 10,000th ride is expected to be delivered sometime within the first three hours of New Year’s Eve. The volunteers who deliver the ride will receive a 20-minute helicopter ride thanks to Aberdeen Helicopters.
If Operation Red Nose is not your choice, the City of Prince George is providing free transit from 7:00 p.m. tonight until 3:00 a.m. tomorrow.
One of the biggest parties of the year will be Boogie With the Stars at the Prince George Civic Centre.
Doors for the 5th annual event open at 6:00 p.m. with the dancing slated to begin at 8:00 p.m.

Operation Rednose and Keys Please..
there is absolutely no excuse for an impaired driver being on our roads tonight….
have fun by all means…. safely….
In the off chance you decide to play “wheel of fortune” and try that drinking and driving after midnight the RCMP will give you a “brand new for 2015” fresh file number 15-00000. Easy to remember, hard to live down.
Have a Safe and Happy New Years all!
