Outdoor Activities Keep Young at Heart Entertained
Prince George, B.C. – The winter of 2014-15 may not have been a cold, snowy one so far but conditions have been sufficient to provide outdoor enthusiasts with play areas of varying types.
While some were heading to the stores to try and find bargains on Friday, other people took to the ice, the snow and the sleighs and wagons to find their brand of Christmas holiday enjoyment. Popular sliding hills in the city, including the ones at Rainbow Park, Carney Hill and elsewhere received plenty of use by kids old and young who took advantage of temperatures hovering just below freezing.
Meanwhile others were drawn to the outdoor ice oval at the Exhibition grounds to lace up the blades and go for a skate on the recently re-opened oval. The society overseeing the operation of the facility is now charging a fee for each visit. The cost is $2 per person, $5 for a family. A Season Pass is $25 per person, $60 per family. The money raised goes to the operation and maintenance of the oval.
There’s going to be a Holiday Skate tomorrow, Sunday, from noon to 3pm. It will be absolutely free, and will offer free hot chocolate and music to those wishing to take part. And you can learn more about the oval’s hours of operation by going to the Outdoor Ice Oval Society of Prince George web site.
