Weather Warnings Posted for Cariboo, Central Interior

Saturday, December 27, 2014 @ 7:46 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Those thinking of driving in the Cariboo region should take note of the heavy snowfall warning posted by Environment Canada.

Both the Quesnel and Williams Lake areas are under the warning, with snowfall amounts of up to 15 centimetres expected today. The heavy snow will end this afternoon as a low pressure system leaves the area.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

As well a Special Weather Statement remains posted for the Prince George area, with cold Arctic air spreading across the interior Sunday.

Environment Canada says a strong ridge of high pressure from the Yukon will advance towards the BC Interior on Sunday morning. The cold Arctic air associated with this ridge will spread from north to south, with temperatures lowering at least 10 degrees below seasonal norms for several days.

The temperature will dip to minus 10 this evening but gusty winds from the north will see the mercury drop to minus 13 Sunday afternoon. Sunday night’s low is minus 19 with sunshine and a high of minus 12 Monday.

It really starts to cool off Monday night with a low of minus 20.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high of minus 14, low minus 21.

Wednesday, sunny with a high of minus 12 but a New Year’s eve low of minus 22.

Thursday sun and cloud and a high of minus 15, low minus 18.

And Friday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of minus 14.

I was hoping for some snow so the Winter Games would be a success, but didn’t want it all at once..lol

What would we do without these weather warnings. Probably fall off the edge of the earth LOL.

Ever make a trip from Mezeadin to Deas Lake in January on #37 before it was ploughed with a two wheel drive half ton?

I did do that from Stewart out. Do you know they have 6 inch round snowflakes up there? And they don’t count centimeters in a snow fall, they count 5 ft. or 7 ft.?

yeh and the village Stewart uses tunnels for pedestrian traffic. No bad drivers though.
cheers

No, they had tunnels to the front door of the houses. And very steep roofs.
Still remember a Volkswagen that got chewed up by a Kitimat snow blower, and kids being warned not to touch power lines when sliding down in to the street.

Retired, you said there wasn’t a site in Abby where you could read news and comment but actually there is. It’s called Abbotsford News and if you read the headlines it is reported that an off-duty Police officer hit a 14 year old boy at an intersection on Dec. 26. The boy has died and a rumour is circulating that the officer was using his cell phone and speeding. Pay attention down there. You’re so damn ignorant.

Hey 4seasons, lighten up. You’re putting information on a website that had better be accurate, you leave yourself open to a libel suit if it isn’t.
What comments on here by Retired do you feel are ignorant? Time to look in the mirror?

Read it on the Abbotsford News website. He constantly makes comments about PG drivers, even when there are injuries, just giving him some of his own medicine.

And you think if it’s in the media, it must be true? That is truly to laugh at.

You saw a comment by a poster, and think it’s the truth????
Get the facts, then decide, good lord!

My apologies, I should have used the word ‘rumoured’.
