Search Continues for Missing P.G. Woman

Prince George, B.C. – The search continues for a missing Prince George woman.

49 year old Anita Thorne disappeared last November 19th and was last seen at SuperSave Gas on Victoria Street.

Her vehicle was later found at the Willow River rest stop.

“The investigation is still open, it’s still ongoing as are all missing person investigations,” says RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass.

“Certainly anybody with information, we’d love that information so we could locate Ms. Thorne.”

In the meantime a website has been set up to help raise some reward money to help aid in the search.

I knew some that were involved in the search, and from that I gathered that if she did go into the river there is a deep hole at the bottom of a steep bank near her car. I guess the hole was deeper than their 20-foot poles, and the divers couldn’t search the bottom safely because of too much stuff coming down river. One hopes they can return to the river for a further search in the spring… one that is more thorough. That said if there was fowl play then creating that kind of uncertainty would have been the work of someone that is truly cunning and not likely something that would have been a crime of opportunity.

There was an extensive search with planes, helicopters, dogs, kayaks and well over 100 ground searchers for 4 days. We were not only looking for Anita we were looking for clues. There was zero evidence she was there and the only connection was, that’s where her vehicle was found. The rest stop had been closed on Oct 31st and a small wooden barricade was moved so her car could be “placed” there. Your information on the 20′ deep hole as well as the debris floating down the river is incorrect. It was slow moving and very shallow. In most of this community’s mind this is most certainly foul play.
