Prince George, B.C. – Another piece of Prince George history was relegated to memory this weekend at the old Winton Global mill operation on River Road.

Equipment operators moved in Saturday morning to demolish the last two remaining buildings housing the heating system on the bank of the Nechako River. When they were done nothing was left but the dry kiln systems which have been taken over by Lakeland Mills.

The Winton Global planer mill and finger joint plant went out of operation in early 2008. The company’s Homes Division is still in business.

Comments

I was driving down River Road the other day and noticed an empty lot where a house (or 2?) used to be upstream from the hatchery. Anyone know what happened to it (them)?

The City bought & demolished them after the flood.

I don’t know if it is fact but I heard the City of PG bought them after the ice jam and flood of several years ago.

Thanks!

Does anybody here know;
Are they leaving the office building intact?
