Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Fire Rescue officials say a kitchen fire on Redwood Street early this morning resulted in damage to the stove area and surrounding cabinets.

At 12:30 am seventeen firefighters from three halls were dispatched to a fire in a basement suite in a three-storey townhouse complex in the 2200 block of Redwood St.

On arrival crews found smoke coming from that suite and the occupants of the structure were evacuated. Assistant Chief Denis Poulin says the occupant of the suite was not at home at the time of the fire.

Damage was contained to that kitchen area. No damage estimate has been released.
