High-flying Cariboo Cougars Earn Weekend Split
Prince George, B.C. – Hot off their huge championship victory at the prestigious Mac’s Midget Triple “A” Tournament in Calgary, the Cariboo Cougars earned a home-ice split and showed why Team BC is in good hands heading into the 2015 Canada Winter Games next month in Prince George.
Dorrin Luding made 27 saves for a shutout in backstopping the Cougars to a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs in BC Major Midget League action at Kin 1. The Chiefs eeked out a 3-2 victory in the first game of the weekend set on Saturday.
Luding and the rest of the Cougars penalty killers were called upon six times Sunday, including a 1:37 long stretch in third when the Cougars were down two men.
Darren Hards with a pair and Chase DuBois scored for the Cougars, who improve to 23-4-1. The Chiefs are now 16-9-3.
The Cougars travel to Victoria next weekend to take on the South Island Royals.
