Three New Directors Join Airport Authority Board
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Airport Authority Board has three new directors.
Board chair Les Waldie says they are Michelle Marrelli, who joined the board as of January 1st, 2015. Waldie says “she is replacing Tom Newell. He was on our board for a number of years and his term was up at the end of the year, so she is replacing him, and that’s a federal government appointment.” Waldie says the final approval of the appointment is made by the Minister of Transport, “but obviously there was consultation with the local MPs.”
Marrelli served as a school trustee on the District 57 School Board from 2001 until November, 2008. She also received a provincial appointment to the B.C. College of Teachers board. And most recently as campaign manager she, along with the candidate and a team of volunteers, was instrumental in running a successful campaign which resulted in the election of Mayor Lyn Hall on November 15th, 2014. Coincidentally, Marrelli joins a board which includes Hall’s opponent in the mayoralty race, Don Zurowski.
Also appointed is Jennifer Brandle-McCall, former CEO of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. “She is an appointment of the Prince George Airport board itself, and she is replacing Marion Bartlett. Marion has been on the board for nine years and so her term is up because the maximum that board members can serve is nine years. Her term was up at the end of November actually and so Jennifer came on effective the first of December of last year.”
The third new appointee is Emily Cheung. “Emily is a professional engineer and she is replacing Bob Radloff. Bob came onto the board in 2012 and has served a three-year term but was not in a position to renew his term. So it’s a Regional District appointment and we wanted to get another engineer. Bob was a great asset to the board and Emily, who is also a professional engineer, will be a great asset to the board.” Her appointment was also effective this January 1st.
The airport authority board is comprised of twelve members, including Chair Waldie. All directors come onto the board for an initial three-year term. Those directorships can be renewed for another two, three-year terms, making a maximum of nine years for each member. Continuation past the first term is at the individual director’s choosing.

Lots of payola here.
Cheers
I agree, Retired02, and wonder what compensation these ‘directors’ receive.
In fact, what exactly do these boards of directors actually accomplish?
Not the triumphs that they may announce, I mean actual tangible results.
metalman.
Where are any of these folks actually “qualified” to have anything to do with an airport?? Sitting on the school board doesn’t mean you know anything about transportation and or airport operations. Here is why that airport isn’t the “Northern Gateway” every one wants it to be…
