Flu Season Peaked In January

Tuesday, January 13, 2015 @ 4:13 PM

Prince George- The Northern Medical Health Officer, Dr. William Osei, says the 2014-2015 season for flu, peaked in January, in this region .

“We at Northern Health consider this to be a very light year” Dr Osei  says. While last year we were hit with the HINI  type of virus, this year it was H3N2 . When it came to people getting the flu shot, Dr Osier  added ” we didn’t hit the bulls eye this year but it did help”.

The number of cases of flu this year were also down from 2013-2014. In the northwest we tested for 2 cases, while in the Northeast that number was 10 , and in the Northern interior region, that area around  Prince George , 9.

The public has been more vigilant in ensuring that they do not contract the flu.

We’re not even half way through January yet.

Yer right Ax. Is this the same guy that said we don’t have any patients in the hallways of the hospital. I get confused, can’t believe anything this bunch says anymore.

I agree, January isn’t half over yet. What is this guy talking about? I don’t have much faith in Northern Health. Too top heavy with administration and publicity seekers!!

Yup, peaked in January huh? Announced on the 13th of january. Imbeciles at their finest.

I’m confused! When does the “flu year” 2013-2014 start and finish? Why does N.H. have to invent a “flu year” – isn’t a calendar year, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31 good enough for them? Yep – it’s been a “light year” for flu, even though they got the vaccine wrong, again! But wait! – it’s because the public has been “more vigilant in ensuring they do not contract the flu” Is this guy for real? Perhaps he’s still in shock after losing the fluoride argument.

Did anyone consider that Dr. Osei might be talking about January 2014?

That would have been the 2013-2014 season. He is clearly talking about the current flu season; the one that we’re currently in the middle of; 2014-2015.

Much like Hockey, the season does not follow the calendar year.
