Odd purchase , this is why you should have to produce photo ID with any purchase with a credit card.
Most retail clerks don’t even look for a signature, let alone confirm ID. I have written in the signature space of credit card to confirm ID instead of a signature. There seems to be a literacy issue as I very rarely if ever get asked for ID confirmation when using my card in a brick and mortar.
Retail, just putting in time to collect wages with minimum input effort or personal planning so one can save up enough for more tattoos and body piercings.
I rarely, if ever anymore, hand over my credit card in a Canadian store/restaurant. So how are they going to check a signature? I insert it, I type in the pin, I put it back in my wallet.
In the States, they check I.D at most places we go. But here, it’s not a thing anymore. So write whatever you want on the back. It won’t make a difference to someone who never sees it. The clerks are doing the job they are trained to do.
@News2Me: Agreed. The signature on the back of a credit card is a joke. It’s not like we should expect someone working a cash register to be a forensic handwriting expert. With PIN’s it has made the process somewhat safer.
Well, he is a smart thief, I’ll give him that. Buying hard to trace credit cards with a stolen one that will eventually get turned off would buy him enough time to spend on what he wants and skip.
A PIN is more secure than a signature IMO.
A signature doesn’t matter if the card belongs to Nancy and your a male with a beard, card holders pay for fraud. picture ID , pin or not. Easy way to stop the thieving this way if they wanted. nobody cares ,,:)
Crap for a sec there I thought they found my financial advisor that skipped town. My advice to everyone is to check out financial people with crime services online. Google cso and work your way through the site. Put in the name you want checked and find out if they have any “issues” with the law.
