Friday, January 16, 2015 @ 5:09 AM

Prince George- While there has been no official announcement, 250News has learned that Prime Minister Harper will attend the Canada Winter Games in this city.

Whether the PM will be here for the official opening , or whether he will attend during the events is not known.  Calls to various government , and political offices have not been returned.

This would be the first visit to Prince George  for the Prime minister in many years .

Comments

I bet there would be some tears shed by a few x City of Prince George politicians if this was to happen.

Cool! We’ll make the news for something positive for a change.

I think I just puked in my mouth!

This is positive news? With all the garbage this guy has done to Canada I don’t think this is positive news at all.

And your hero PET was such a boon to this country.

Like him or not, he’s the duly elected Prime Minister and his presence at the games will be good for Prince George.

todd Dougherty will do an excellent job showing Stevie around town.
The perks of being a WINNER!

As much as I could care less that our lousy PM may be here. It would be the proper thing for him to do *eyes rolling* and good for PG.

Too bad he isn’t here today cuzz he could have said a few words at the Bully Symposium.

He has to come,
how else can he get a free trip,
free food,
I doubt we need to worry about accomodations there isn’t much on George street that goes down to his level anymore,
and a world wide photo op..on our coin.

He hasn’t done much but will try and get as much praise as he can…right along with , Green, Bond, Morris, Clark and any other government official that wants to get their ego stroked.

Maybe it will be -40C…lol

I wouldn’t even shake his hand. He is the greediest prime minister the country has ever seen, where every political move of his is calculated to win power and flex zealotry to a new level. I see a hypocrite that will say anything and do anything to retain power so as to represent a global elite at the expense of Canadian interests.

Its been 8-years since Harper was elected Prime Minister and yet this will be his first visit to PG as PM even though its a region that got him elected as leader of the party in the first place. One should expect the PM to attend the premier sporting event for the nation, so at the end of the day that is all this is about.

Up goes the costs of security..

So putting PG on the ISIS map is good for PG how?

If Harper’s no good as PM, the other Party leaders would be far worse. Early on he tried to get support from the other Parties to change the way politics has been played in this country for far too long. Reforming the Senate was but one example. That support wasn’t forthcoming. So now they and their supporters want to object when Harper plays by the rules they wouldn’t change? Give us a break!

I did not vote for Dick, or Steve. I voted against the NDP and the Liberals. The conservative approach has been good for Canada.

This will get the resident Harper haters frothing at the mouth. Oops, looks like it already has.

One thing is certain. The anti Harperites are out baying at the moon again.

Fact of the matter is, it doesn’t make any difference. They never voted for Harper or the Conservatives, in the first place, and he got a majority Government without them. Perhaps he will do so again.

Both ridings in this area were won by the Conservatives with over 11000 votes over their closest opponents. I don’t know how good some people are with math, but surely you can see that the majority of voters in this area, disagree with the moon baying Harper haters.

HE IS BY FAR THE BEST PM WE EVER HAD.

One day, a talented lass or fellow, a special one with face of yellow, will make the Piece of Resistance found from its hiding refuge undergroun, and with a noble army at his helm, this Master Builder will thwart the Kragle and save the realm, and be the greatest, most interesting, most important person of all times. All this is true because it rhymes.

I cant beleive he’s coming!

The conservative supporters culled out the bad ones when dick Harris retired. We’re not all that bad

It will be funny to see all the Harper fans lining up 10-hours before his plane arrives wearing diapers so they don’t loose their spot in line.

Clearly everything Harper has done is designed to fool voters, consolidate power for a ruling elite, manipulate our democratic framework to ensure perpetual power, and generally anything that advances the interests of a globalist monopoly capitalism ideology.

Take Target for example. Allows them to buy out Zellers, shut down Canadian supply lines to the retail outlet as Target came in with their own… and then only two years later is able to shut down the whole Canadian operation and walk away from it. Same thing with Steelco, Caterpillar, Alcan, and even our forestry operations. Total sell out of a national economy for monopoly capitalism ideology with no protections for the Canadian economy from those that use finance as a weapon.

Harper is a lousy economist, and an even worse Prime Minister. Biggest deficits in Canadian history and huge social credit paid out to bankster who line their pockets while stiffing the small business community. Harper bet everything on an oil economy and investment agreements with China that handcuff our courts and democratic institutions. Harper has no answer for a balanced economy.

“So putting PG on the ISIS map is good for PG how?”

It gives us the opportunity to trap a bunch of them and wipe them out. Most Middle Eastern terrorists have no experience of cold and snow. We’ll have a large home ice advantage.

I am not a Conservative but I am a Canada Winter Games volunteer. Having the Prime Minister of Canada come to the games will raise the profile of the games and I think that is a good thing. I will wait to vent my displeasure when I go to the ballot box in the fall.

Harper is the worst Prime Minister in Canadian history. Biggest deficit in history, election fraud, suppression of science, gutting libraries, gutting environmental protections, suppressing the media, obsessed with law and order, bought and paid for by the oil and gas corps, and a war monger. The mail-room boy who hides in a closet when things get tough. The thought of him preening like he did anything to help get these games here makes me want to puke.

Eagleone, being that I am a supporter of our Prime Minister and of the Conservative Party, let me be the first to make you aware of a new poll that has now put the Conservatives ahead of the Liberals, and of course the NDP!

“Harper is a lousy economist”

============================

Unless I am mistaken, he’s never actually worked as an economist, so it’s sort of unfair to suggest that he is a lousy one. Having degrees in a discipline does not mean that someone is a professional in that field. There is a big difference between book and applied knowledge.

This isn’t to say that he isn’t a smart man, because he clearly is. He just isn’t what I would call an economist.

Hear, hear Annie . And while he hid in a closet , he left a guy in a wheel chair , his woman MPs and the rest on the front line defending him with pointy sticks . What a hero . That must have made every vet , policeman , fireman , Boy Scout , girl scout and brownie sick to their stomachs . Made me want to barf .

Harper haters site countless personal perceptions that can’t be quantified so here is some food for thought. He led Canada through the worst global economic situation faced in decades and Canada has emerged, not only unscathed, but prosperous – among the top countries on the planet! He has and continues to navigate the war on terrorism and what it means to Canada which, by virtue of his time spent in office, no other PM in history has had to do with respect to today’s technology and abilities of the enemy online and in the flesh.
He is not perfect, but in order to have a perfect PM, perhaps the only way would be to have one of the haters (which are in the MINORITY again) step up and do his job on a global scale and see how well you fair! Then again, you’re hate is cheap, easy to come by and garner support for, and can be accomplished from the comfort of your living room – so it’s more likely that you will carry on hating. I suppose this is Canada and you are free to do so.

Shteeva , that’s neocon coolaid . He did it by making debt slaves out of our young with no money down 40 year ams . now the wheels are coming off the housing boom . And creating the biggest deficit in history . 61 % of canadians did not vote for him or his ilk . That’s a majority . Few if any actually hate harper himself but 61 % dispise what he has done to canada and our once proud reputation . The sooner he follows Herb Pond ( ex Prince rupert mayor ) into to fossil fool business the better we will all be . Hopefully his next office will be in China or Israel . I’d offer to help him pack .

harper got 37.6 of the vote sorry you don’t even know what the word minority means even if you yell it 37.6 percent is the minority.
dirty neo-liberals twisting facts to suit their ideology

Boo freaking Hoo! I hope that all of you Trudeau/Mulcair supporters are readying yourselves for yet another term as opposition rather than governing party supporters!

As for your assertions that our Prime Minister “hid” in a closet, I am sure that if you had even a hint of a clue, you would understand that our Prime Minister’s Security Detail did exactly what they were supposed to do and that is to IMMEDIATELY usher our Prime Minister to a “safe” location. I am sure that the security protocol that was followed was similar if not the same as that which would be followed in the USA, Russia, Japan, China, Germany, France, England, South Africa, Iceland, Australia, Switzerland, Austria or any other country for that matter!

Would you rather that the leader of our country be left out in the open with bullets flying?

In the extremely unlikely event that Trudeau or Mulcair was the Prime Minister (gee, I almost barfed just typing that), I am sure that they would have also been ushered out of harm’s way and all of you Harper-haters would be praising the Security Detail for their prompt response!

I’m in a feisty mood today, so I’ll end with “what a bunch of morons!”

Cheers!

Exactly, HartGuy. The whole ‘Harper in a closet’ thing is just another lame talking point that the Harper haters love to bring up for lack of anything of actual substance.

@HartGuy, we that disagree with are not morons we just didn’t drink the koolaid…no one ushered him into that closet, he ran there as fast as he could all by himself, his cabinet didn’t know where he was. Mulcair was front and center prepared to fight, he has a closet too, but was prepared to go down with his ship like a strong leader. Harper called his mommy right after…not his wife…his mommy…

First off it’s cool he is coming here, winter sports is what we Canadians are know for around the world. I am not a fan of the man but the is a canadian event, he is the leader of our country, it’s a must that he shows up.

If he didn’t show up the haters would bitch about it, now that he is they are bitching about it..lol

I’m always amused that “the ones who REALLY know whats going on” are never on the right side of power. Perhaps you need to reevaluate who actually “drank the koolaid”. For the record, I resent the implication that my views are of lesser intelligence because they disagree with the haters. Regarless of how you twist the numbers, Harper was voted in by our democratic system. How arrogant must you be to conclude that everyone that supports him is wrong and you are right? The millions of us that support Stephen Harper are all misinformed at best and complete morons at worst according to you??????

Listening to the Harper haters is enough to make anyone want to puke.

I cant believe the level of stupidity that permeates some of these posts.

As an example, it would be fair to say that Harper was not even born when Companies like Steelco, Alcan, Caterpillar, were in their hayday. Companies live forever, people die. The Liberals probably had more to do with these Companies than the Conservatives, just by the fact they were in power many more years than the Conservatives.

To my way of thinking if the best you can do is blame all the problems in the world on one lone individual that has very little if any influence on the big picture, then you are showing your lack of intelligence.

For all the Harper haters. The next time your finger breaks through the toilet paper and turns brown, be sure that you blame Harper, after all it must have been his fault, he subsidized the pulp and paper industry, to keep them competitive with the USA, and the least they could do in return is to make a stronger sheet of paper.

Have a nice day.

I think its almost time for a new PM..but not time for Tredau or Mulcair..Handing the keys to the country to Tredau or Mulcair would be letting a monkey on acid drive your car..

I am a conservative member but will not vote for the conservative party until Harper steps down as leader and we get a better person in command. (The better person category doesn’t include Baird or MacKay.)

northman your comment about acid got me curious enough to google acid and it seems that using that drug can cause the user to become paranoid. paranoid: suspicious, distrustful or afraid of other people. I think maybe it was Harper that took acid. I suspect Trudeau (smiley face guy) smokes Marc Emery’s pot and Mulcair (his cranky face is of a chronic hemorrhoid sufferer?) eats it in his brownies.

NMG:-“Unless I am mistaken, he’s never actually worked as an economist, so it’s sort of unfair to suggest that he is a lousy one. Having degrees in a discipline does not mean that someone is a professional in that field. There is a big difference between book and applied knowledge.

————————————————————————

I think most of the world’s economists are engaged in providing data to try to support some special interest group’s pre-conceived political position. Not in trying to use data in general to attempt to understand and predict what might happen in the economy. Only a minority of them ever do that. I believe Stephen Harper quite probably used what knowledge he had been taught about economics just as most economists use theirs. And that, in his case, was what he was hired to do by the money behind the “National Citizens Coalition” way back when, well before he entered politics himself.

It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t trained as an ‘accountant’ as well, since if he had been he may have been able to better understand where some of the policies all three of the main Parties universally subscribe to cannot ever work. There is still a chance with him he might eventually see that. With Trudeau or Mulcair, no chance whatsoever.

Hey Pal where have you been? calling al these nice people< "haters".
Cheers

You all got so excited about Harper just read a later bit of news.
Cheers
