A Sport Fan’s Delight in Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – There is no lack of action to take in this weekend in Prince George, and the majority of it is sport-related.
First off, the Prince George Cougars hosted the Portland Winterhawks last night with the clubs going to a shootout in front of 3858 fans before the visitors eeked out a 4-3 victory. The teams have a return Western Hockey League engagement, 7 tonight at CN Centre.
The Prince George Spruce Kings opened a weekend home stand early when they hosted Salmon Arm Thursday night. The stand on Coliseum ice continues tonight as the Kings face the Victoria Grizzlies at 7. And a busy weekend wraps up Sunday when the Spruce Kings take on the Coquitlam Express starting at 3 in the afternoon.
The men’s and women’s UNBC basketball teams are hosting the Thompson Rivers University squads this weekend. They battled at the Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre last night and meet again this evening with the lady Timberwolves on the court at 5pm followed by the men’s game at 7.
Following the Cougars-Winterhawks game tonight, CN Centre staff will make final preparations for Sunday afternoon’s Xtreme International Ice Racing card running from 2 to 4pm. The competition features modified motorcycles and quads racing on ice.
