Hunters gather outside Civic Centre
Prince George BC – Over 200 hunters, some carrying signs, gathered outside the Prince George Civic Centre this morning, calling for a change to recent harvest allocations.
Rally spokesperson Steve Hamilton “Basically we don’t like the allocation that came down December 10th”. The allocation changes mean guide outfitters will see an increase in their share of the annual limits .
“They are setting aside an unprecedented amount of BC wildlife for.foreign investment and foreign hunters. We think BC wildlife should be for BC residents first.”
A group of those who oppose the allocation changes will be meeting with MLA Mike Morris and Shirley Bond on January 26th.

Not sure how much headway they will make by meeting with Morris, and Bond, however that is a good first step.
They should ensure that Bond and Morris be specific as to whether they will do anything about this issue or not. Just to have a meeting and leave without any assurances is not good enough.
This Government has a tendency to just ignore local groups whenever possible, so these people need to apply some pressure across the Province.
I for one would be prepared to make a donation to a group if they were to send a delegation to Victoria. In fact I would suggest that if no progress in made on this issue with the politicians, they send a delegation from every constituency in BC.
Ignoring citizens legitimate concerns is insulting to say the least.
