Valemount, B.C.-  One person is  believed to have died in a crash on highway 5 .

Highway 5 is closed in both directions 19 km north of Blue River because of the crash which  involved a semi and a pick up truck late this afternoon.

An RCMP crash reconstructionist is on the scene to determine the factors leading up to the collision.

There is no  detour available, and the  estimated time of  the highway re-opening as between 2 and 4 tomorrow morning.

Drive BC is hoping to provide an update on the highway closure around 10 tonight.
