Prince George, B.C. – It’s never been a better time to participate in the Scotiabank Skater program.

The partnership between the bank and the Prince George Cougars allows young players the chance to lead the team out onto the ice carrying a flag prior to the start of Cougar home games.

“Under the new ownership group they really make sure that the skaters and their families are welcomed and pay attention to their needs and they make it a unique experience,” says Scotiabank branch manager Trevor Lutes.

“They do some pictures, they take them through the work-out area where there’s pictures of past Cougar alumni.”

He’s hoping players from across the north, not only Prince George, take the time to enter.

“We’ve sent out information to the local branches in Quesnel, Williams Lake, McBride, Mackenzie and Prince George.

And Lutes says he’s received nothing but positive feedback from all the kids who have participated.

“Every kid that I’ve talked to over the last couple of years and this year especially – they’re excited and the parents are excited.”

He encourages anyone interested in becoming the next Scotiabank Skater to apply online here.
