Did I Take A Wrong Turn ?

Prince George, B.C- For those who have seen this bird, and may have mistaken him/or her for an Eagle, not so , this bird is a Great Blue Heron.
Great Blue Heron’s traditionally winter along the coast of BC, but many of them spend the winter in the southern USA, some as far south as Mexico.
This Heron has hit a lucky winter, given that these birds feed on small fish, crayfish and snails and with the mild winter we have been enjoying, the backwaters in the Nechako have remained open. This bird doesn’t seem to have minded the one cold snap we had.
It seems content to spend its time on the ice in the area of the Cameron Street bridge and the shallow back water nearby.

Very cool bird, and a neat shot!
I have seen a few of these around here in the summer, especially at some of the lakes we walk into, but I have never seen one here this time of year.
Nice pic. Thanks for posting this, makes a nice change from the news.
