Gee, that’s right down the street. I didn’t hear a thing.

It’s hard to see how the vehicles got into that position, and there isn’t much traffic at that intersection either. Very odd that there’d be a collision there.

Not odd at all, there have been a number of mvi’s that that intersection in recent memory, in fact one as serious as this one just 5 or 6 weeks ago.
Someone did not obey the traffic light, obviously.
metalman.

metalman@There was one at Weisbrod recently? You’re not thinking of the one at Austin, are you?

The only time we see a police presence on the Hart is when we have another, of numerous crashes in the area! Remember the last one at this intersection not too long ago.
So sad, that people will not slow down and drive responsibly.

At one point years ago I lived on that street and always hated the name. Who would name a street like that?

Anyways for what its worth the signal for the intersection to trigger the light often does not work? After sitting for 5-10 minutes people just go and accidents like this happen.

Then you couldn’t call it an accident then could you?

The street is named after someone. Weisbrod is someones last name.

Since when isn’t there much traffic on HWY 97 at this intersection?

The driver of the SUV was making a left hand turn and was t-boned by the car. Nothing to do with speed or the light trigger – which has never been more then a minute wait that may feel like five!

Who’s at fault legally will depend on the colour of the light at the time but from a defensive driving standpoint, they’re both at fault.

That light is so short when coming onto the highway (unless triggered by a pedestrian) it is not uncommon to see only 1 vehicle make it through the green light if they spin or ease out slow onto the highway. People on the highway constantly try to time the light so they don’t have to stop. So someone taking a late amber light and someone jumping the green light and you have this happen. Still poor driving habits regardless.

billposer; I did not see the accident I spoke of, friends did and told me about it. They referenced the Day & Night store/Esso station in the telling of it.I think the crash was in December ’14

And I too think that intersection is a pain in the whatever.
All intersections with a major highway should be by way of under pass, with on & off ramps. There would be far fewer collisions and traffic would flow more smoothly.

metalman.

Hey Honest Joe, I wish you’d quit knocking the police for never going up to the Hart. Be fair, we’ve only got one Tim Horton’s up there, and frankly, it’s probably one of the worst Tim Hortons in town. You can’t expect them to work in conditions like that! (sarcasm if not self evident)

“Since when isn’t there much traffic on HWY 97 at this intersection?”
Dragonmaster@There is not much traffic on Weisbrod/Handlen, which is probably why the light is set so short.

Who is Weisbrod named after? Presumably not the hockey player, who is too young.

@billposer….different spelling but the Weissbrod’s homesteaded in the Crescent Lake and Murch Lake area out Chief Lake road.I’ve just started the book but this family is mentioned. Oh, the book is From Broad axe to Clay Chinking by June A Chamberland.

Maybe it’s named after Shari Green.

Sounds like a fairy tale book Digitus Impudicus. Would you like me to provide you with a real book?

maverick 1965 (Mr. Hankey) could you be any more of a dork. From what I’ve read Mr. Bill Poser is very interested in local history. This book is about pioneers in and around the Prince George area. I know, I know, you only know what the bible tells you and you haven’t bothered to learn anything else.
