Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George has  given first and second reading to an application for  a change to the Official Community Plan that would clear the way for the development of a Woody’s RV Centre.

The location is the corner of  Highway 16 and  Bunce Road, and would see a portion  of the Yellowhead Golf Course  rezoned.

Notices will be sent to  immediate neighbours  to the project for their comment, and there are some issues that need to be  addressed before the project could be completed.  One of the issues is water pressure,  another is  future plans for the stretch of highway .  The Ministry of Transportation has indicated it would like to four lane a piece of that roadway.

Woody’s RV is a well known recreational vehicle dealer in Alberta with locations in Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton and Grande Prairie.

A public hearing   will be  held  before this project can move forward.

It always amazes me that we consume enough RVs to warrant multiple giant dealers like this. Crazy.
That reminds me, I have to go air out my tent :P

You also got to remember, we have a large geographical area to serve.

happy trails is now, Fraser RV, and Woody’s will unfortunately run NR out of the RV business. These new guys have a different mentality of selling RV’s. They will offer very deep discounts to win your business. Unlike the old school mentality, of we will overcharge you because your willing to buy it locally.

I have gone to NR Motors several times, when we were looking for an RV, stepped into a couple units. the Sales people wouldn’t even come out of their offices to ask if we had any questions. Thus we eventually bought our fifth wheel and a camper from other people.

I thank Fraser RV and Woody’s for setting down the new rules. Their client list is getting old, they better shift gears real quick or they are going to get stuck with a lot of inventory.

No surprise that the golf course is being phased out, what with the decline in revenues from golfing all over north America due to declining middle class who can afford it and declining health in us old duffers who used to golf. However, I am surprised that there’s enough money in selling RV’s that anyone would want to open a new RV shop on that property. No doubt we will see yet another sell off in the near future as many folks act to reduce their carbon footprint.

Interesting that this is only 1/2 of the golf course. What will happen to the rest of the golf course a camp ground?

The city and Radloff say there may not be enough water pressure for that area. hmmm
Guess we will be paying more taxes as the city has plans in their 2016 budget to boost the system there.

And yet the residents in just past the golf course and the Haldi neighbourhood cannot get water since amalgamation. Must be comforting to them….

Does anyone actually know if the golf course is toast or are they talking about the property a few hundred yards past Bunce?

I am not terribly surprised that there is demand for more RV lots in PG. Most of my friends and family here have RVs. With gas prices declining, they become even more affordable.
The smaller RV lots here clearly do not want my business, so it would be nice if new businesses, that do want my money open here. I will be ready to buy a new one in about 14 months, and we have talked about going to the Okanagan to do so. Hopefully this new one opens up by then. ;)

It had 1st and 2nd reading last night. The way this planning department works the golf course will be toast. The only people that are required to be notified are the people on the one side of Bunce Rd. that their back yards are along the fence.

The only Public consultation used by this city is a two day notice in the paper. Unless you live right adjacent to the property you will not be notified.

This planning department does not learn from its mistakes from the Haldi fiasco. On the Public Consultation Opportunities they could do surveys, on request meetings and or presentation and have other meetings before hand. They could also use the General Public option for the surrounding neighbourhood.

It is cheaper and safer for the city to do only do the minimum.

My suggestion would be if you know of anyone out in the area to get them asking questions now! Where the traffic flow will be will affect every one around Vanway, Bunce Road, Bear Paw, Virk subdivision, Purdue and many others.

It will definitely affect the school kids in the area with the extra traffic even though they say there will be a section of side-walk.

If someone has passes already paid for – go and get your money back….lol

As I understood it, the golf course was looking to close anyway – not economically viable and a lot of problems between golfers and local residents. I think you might find the owners of the golf course are in favour of this, because they get to sell off land they won’t need anyway.

‘No surprise that the golf course is being phased out, what with the decline in revenues from golfing all over north America due to declining middle class who can afford it ‘

– Um, it’s like 16$ a round at Yellowhead. If you can’t afford that, you aren’t even middle class. Stop trying to portray the sport like it’s expensive, everywhere you go. Yellowhead is cheap, and a great family course.

As a regular golfer at the Yellowhead, I will sadly miss the affordable, friendly atmosphere that it has to offer. The sidewalks right up to the school should exist now, so upgrading the road with a safer route will benefit the students. Guesswhat does make a good point about the water pressure. Tax payers will be paying for this upgrade….and right down the road we have a whole community, within city limits without city services.

I can just picture the steam coming from Bob and Greg’s ears as we speak!

Dragonmaster – Care to enlighten us?

As with the neighbourhood around the Bottle depot, Haldi, the Hart Highlands, Blackburn and I imagine there are quite a few others, this city is not residential friendly.

There is such poor planning in this city it is scary. When one looks at how fast things are past with the last council and even the new current council nothing has changed.

Another blunder by planning and administration in a residential neighbourhood…

It’s too bad about how this will (probably) affect NR Motors RV business, as I am a strong believer in shopping locally for as much as possible, but I have to concur with some of the comments, and have my own experience with them.
Trying to get them to match a southern dealer’s trade offer on a near new camper I had purchased from NR. This is mid winter, on a brand new 5th wheel they had on the lot in PG. No comprende.
The southern dealer did not even see the camper beforehand, they took my word as to the condition it was in. There was a 5K difference in trade value, and similar prices between the 5th wheel trailers we were interested in. Needless to say the southern dealer got the business, we got a new 5th wheel.
