Freezing Rain Prompts Travel Advisories – Update
Saturday, February 7, 2015 @ 7:59 AM
Prince George, B.C. – If you don’t need to travel area highways this morning then don’t bother.
This as DriveBC has issued five travel advisories due to freezing rain in the Prince George region.
They include Highway 16 in both directions from Bednesti to Prince George and Highway 16 from Prince George to Purden.
There are also three advisories for Highway 97 – from Prince George to Salmon Valley, from Stoner to Prince George, and from Salmon Valley to Junction with Highway 39, south of Mackenzie.

Chief lake road a sheet of ice
First and Foothills like glass with a layer of oil. Pretty extreme.
My take from looking out the window: stay in bed.
Holly crap the roads are bad today. I have almost hit the ditch 3 times while texting this message. I will keep you all posted.
Lots of nasty roads, should be interesting by the end of the day. Even the graders are having troubles working.
Everyone just stay home and leave the driving to the professionals.

I didn’t realize we had any professional drivers… Especially in the log hauling business.
The professionals are staying home.
cheap comment axeman, cheap but I guess normal from you.
I see drivers like axeman everyday..Total oblivious to the chaos he creates in the wake of his destination.
Pick on axeman day? Saw a YRB truck salting and sanding the Bypass this morning, Slowed down traffic but once the salt kicked in you could actually stop at lights and it no longer felt like you were going to lose it down Peden Hill. Nice job through the city YRB, now if you can just get down those side streets without taking out a stop sign or two on the way… actually need a couple for the wall of the garage (pondering the idea)

Drivers like me are staying off the roads today since they’re so bad. Not sure how you’re seeing me since I’m not there.
I should get a dash cam and start posting videos of some of the alleged professionals driving logging trucks these days. It would be extremely difficult to defend the driving habits that a lot of them engage in.
and I could do the same in my truck with the twits that bunch up the traffic causing havoc, bet my memory card is full before yours
Make sure you post your speed so we can see who the actual hazard is .. Or better yet your workplace address so we can all show up and walk around like a blind sloth in front of you while you try to work ….
Just because you have a snowflake or a mountain on the side wall of your tires doesn’t mean that you people can stop when driving 5′ from the rear of the car in-front of you.
Your right “diazamo” they need to post electronic speeds indicators. People obviously don’t look at there odometers or some of them would realize they are traveling in excess of 100kms. in a 70 km. zone. Oh and the other third are driving 20kms. below the posted speed limit. No smooth consistent flow with driving habits like that.

Any one of them would out drive you and most others in a heart beat!

If that didn’t get the message across nothing will.

If people are using their odometers to know what speed they’re driving at, that may indicate their mental capacity.
So the two light brown chip trucks going side by side using the entire passing lane heading west last week with cars lined up behind them, I guess that was a couple of professionals keeping us all at the correct speed?

There’s bad driver’s all around. Until the government stops treating driving like a cash cow and making it difficult to get and to keep a license there will be idiots driving all different sizes of vehicles.
We should both get a dash cam and set up a youtube channel of PG’s worst drivers.
“We should both get a dash cam and set up a youtube channel of PG’s worst drivers.”
That was why we got one. They aren’t expensive, and it should provide hours of entertainment, kind of like those Russian driving videos. ;)
Stay safe everybody. I hear it’s ugly out there.

What were the exact circumstances surrounding this incident of which you whine? Where exactly did this incident occur for which you are whining? Have you ever driven a large truck on the hwy during winter conditions? I bet not. That pretty much makes your crying pointless. Unless you know exactly why this happened. I bet you think they were racing one another right? Seeing who could be in front after the passing lane ends right? I also bet you think that trucks have no right to use the passing lanes as they see fit in a safe manner, the same way as any other motorist has. Maybe look beyond yourself for a change!
