Robbery Suspects Arrested
Prince George, B.C. – Two Prince George men are in police custody following a pair of robberies Sunday night.
RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass says the first occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the 2300 block of Ferry Avenue.
“Officers attended and determined that a male wearing a bandana over his face exited a vehicle and threatened to harm a 23 year old male victim if he did not turn over his wallet and backpack.”
He says the victim complied and wasn’t hurt while the suspect fled in an SUV driven by somebody else.
Just minutes later Douglass says another robbery occurred on the 1200 block of Douglas Street.
This time he says a 20 year old male was approached from what police believe was the same SUV.
Again the victim complied and wasn’t harmed.
This morning Douglass says police located and arrested the two male suspects – 26 year old Calvin Douglas Hiemstra and 23 year old Alexander John Schmidt – both of whom made their first court appearances today.
He says police also believe the pair were responsible for an attempted robbery of two men near the corner of 5th Avenue and Alward Street around the same time last night.
Both Hiemstra and Schmidt are facing the following charges: Robbery(2 counts), Uttering Threats, and Attempted Robbery.
