Fraser Lake, B.C. – A breakthrough in the Destiny Tom murder investigation.

RCMP have arrested 26 year old Garrett Steven George, who has now been  charged with 2nd degree murder in the case.

“This arrest comes as a result of a thorough investigation by North District Major Crime investigators who were determined to find out what happened to Destiny,” says Superintendent Brendan Fitzpatrick, Operations officer for the Major Crime Unit.

“It was important for us to gather the necessary evidence to ensure the charges moved before the courts.”

21 year old Tom was found dead March 23, 2013 in the Fort Fraser area. She was a resident of the Nadleh First Nations reserve.

Police say Tom and George knew each other and note the public is not at risk.
