Dawson Creek Kidnapping, Shooting Result of Gang Violence Says Police
Dawson Creek, B.C. – More information has been released regarding a kidnapping and shooting in Dawson Creek this weekend.
The probe began early yesterday morning (February 21) when the local RCMP found a man who had been shot multiple times outside the city’s hospital emergency entrance.
An investigation revealed the man had been abducted near the intersection of 102nd Avenue and 17th Street late Friday night.
They say the man was then forced into a pickup truck by the parking lot of Bergeron Funeral Home and taken to a rural location where he was shot multiple times.
Miraculously, the victim managed to drag himself back to a roadway where he was picked up and taken to hospital.
Following a forensic investigation that’s included the help of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit out of Prince George, the Regional General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section out of Fort St John, Mounties now say the victim was 26 years old and believe the incident to be a targeted event and the result of ongoing gang violence in the Peace region.
They’ve also identified a number of persons of interest during their investigation and are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour near the intersection of 102nd Avenue and 17th Street during the hours of 10:30 pm to midnight on February 20th to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
