Alberta and Ontario Meet Sunday For Hockey Gold
Prince George, B.C. – It will be Alberta facing Ontario in the Gold Medal game in men’s hockey at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
The Albertans beat Manitoba 3-1 in one semi-final Friday while Ontario scored three third period goals to knock off Quebec 5-2. Manitoba and Quebec play for bronze at 7:30 tonight at CN Centre. The gold medal match-up, which is sold out, closes out the games competition with an 11:30 start Sunday morning.
The medal games go today in Women’s Curling. In Friday’s semis Ontario beat Saskatchewan 8-3 while Nova Scotia edged New Brunswick 7-6. So its Saskatchewan versus New Brunswick in the Bronze medal game at 1 this afternoon at the PG Golf and Curling Club. And the Gold medal game at 5pm is shaping up to be a war between two rinks that haven’t dropped a game so far, Ontario tangling with Nova Scotia for all the rocks.
Entering the final weekend of the 2015 games Quebec leads the way with 130 medals, Ontario next at 96, host BC has won 76 and Alberta is next at 65.
