Hectic Day at YXS
Prince George, B.C. – Talk about a hectic 15 or so hours at YXS.
According to marketing and communications manager Lindsay Cotter, it all started Sunday morning.
“The first flight of the day was at 11 a.m., Cargojet’s Boeing 757 landed to pick up all of the athlete equipment and supplies. That flight departed early afternoon,” says Cotter. “Athlete flights started landing around 7:00 p.m., with the first departure leaving around 8:00 p.m. The last flight full of athletes left around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.”
In all, 73 flights took off and landed at the airport which she says makes for almost a 50% increase over usual airport traffic for the day.
February was likely the busiest month in YXS history although passenger numbers won’t be released until later this month.

It may not be as busy but now PG can show it can put on world class sporting events I would not be surprised to see an increase in sporting competitions being held in the city

Speaking of sporting events, this coming weekend (Mar 7th and 8th) is the annual Active Living Market at Pine Centre Mall. I hope there is still enough residual enthusiasm to make it a resounding success.
