Trustees to “Kick” Around Ideas at Tonight’s Board Meeting

Prince George, B.C. – School trustees in District 57 will meet tonight for the first time since January.school board

The agenda includes a recommendation regarding leaves of absence put forth by the Policy and Governance Committee.

The committee has suggested updating the policy to reflect changes made to the teacher’s collective agreement.

In addition, they’ve also proposed teacher’s be allowed to use their sick leave to take care of family members who are sick and to attend medical appointments.

The Board is also expected to discuss the ramifications of last month’s provincial budget which will require Boards of Education to reduce spending on administration and related services by a total of $29 million next school year and a further $25 million in 2016/17.

Finally, the Board is expected to approve a new soccer course which must be approved by the Board in order for it to count towards graduation.
