UNBC Strike Continues
Prince George, B.C.- The picket lines remain in place at UNBC and some of its satellite campuses.
The Faculty Association and the University were back at the bargaining table on Friday, but those talks ended early in the day with no resolution in sight.
President of the Faculty Association, Jacqueline Hollor says there has been no word over the weekend that would indicate there is any change , or counter proposal to be presented by the University. The University has offered a 5.5% spread over 5 years.
The picket lines are back up at the entrances to the main campus in Prince George, as well as the Wood Innovation and Design Centre, the BMO building downtown and the satellite campus in Terrace.
Holler says at this point there is no plan to expand the job action to other UNBC satellite campuses, but that is an option that will be explored this week.

The folks on the picket line need to stand up for their needs and not back down , there is far to much money wasted in this province by the Liberals they have cut back schooling , hospitals , nurses , Doctors , home care and the list goes on . Bring back the Unions.
Thanks for the morning laugh: All the occupations you list are heavily burdened with exorbitant union pay and pie-in-the-sky union benefits. The unions never went anywhere, least of all from the public teat.
Jimmy Hughes, I get the impression that you share my feelings of being fed up with people like Fedup2015. People like that want more, more, more without any consideration of how hard they are already suckling at the public teat!
Ditto: Goes for the Admin too!
So if the Government can not pay more in wages what gives them the authority to up our Hydro,ICBC and medical premiums etc. We can not afford to have this happen either. When government raises their premiums it is not just a few percentage points.
It’s sad we see the government as a separate entity different from ourselves, when we are the government, and the people we elect, are supposed to collect and spend taxes wisely. The issue is we all don’t agree on what that is. We all pretty much agree they collect too much tax, and we all pretty much agree they spend it on the wrong things, and if only they would spend it on the right things, there would be enough money for everything that we think is important. Except, what we all think is important is significantly different. Old people think health care is most important, young people free education, and pretty much everyone can make a great case that what they think is important is the right thing to do. Hence, no one is happy and generally agree the government is poorly run.
And yet, our country is so poorly run, there are significant amounts of people trying to get out of tropical countries, to come to our frozen wasteland, because they see it as a better place to live and raise a family – and ironically, those people probably think spending on immigration is a good idea.
I wonder if The Government would signe an agreement with the people of this province not to increase our ICBC, medical premiums Hydro etc by more than 1.1 percent yearly for the next 5 years? If so I will sign on the dotted line now.
I wonder if the 1.1% will cover the increases to wages and pensions that government just gave to employees. Don’t think so!
