Grants Help Along Hudson’s Bay Wetland Project

Thursday, March 12, 2015 @ 3:50 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Two new grants has the 2015 Hudson’s Bay Wetland campaign off to a good start.

BC Nature and the BC Naturalists Foundation have provided a $2,000 grant to go towards informational signage and a community liaison.

In addition to that, the Calgary Foundation has provided a $2,500 grant “to help inspire the appreciation and understanding of this region’s natural wonders.”

The Prince George Naturalists Club says work on the wetland project has already begun this year, with three large information signs added this week.

Later this year another trail and observation deck will be built on the north side of the channel just east of Queensway Street.

In the future an earthen ramp will link this new trail with Fort George Park, creating another universal-access nature loop.

The PGNC say future plans also include fundraising for an accessible trail, footbridge, boardwalks, bird blinds, and an observation tower.
