UNBC, Faculty Meet Today

Saturday, March 14, 2015 @ 4:04 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Representatives of the University of Northern BC and its Faculty Association will be meeting once again today in an effort to reach agreement on the terms of a new contract.

About 350 members of the association have been on strike since March 5th, with picket lines set up at the main UNBC campus in Prince George, the BMO satellite campus on Third Avenue, the Wood Innovation and Design Centre and the satellite campus in Terrace.  The main issue in the dispute is wages, with the parties still far apart.

UNBC Manager of Communications, Matt Wood, says today’s meeting is scheduled for this morning.  It comes on the heels of a new offer from Administration on Thursday, with the Faculty reps expected to put forward a counter-offer.

Meantime, UNBC students who back the Faculty in the dispute are holding a rally at the courthouse starting at noon.

RUNBC and FA still far apart ? Since the fifth . Is this going to be a repeat ? Happy PI day Faculty . Please keep providing the tax payers that the future of our society needs to survive . Unbc , if you used solar panels , windmills or what ever our youth can come up with . Instead of getting a power bill from bchydro which must be in the millions per year ,you would get a cheque . This would not only save a bundle for other uses but give the students a look at what the future looks like . Plus you would be the safe haven in the case of massive grid failure .
