Cariboo Cougars Off to BCMML Final
Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars have advanced to the BC Major Midget League playoff final.
The Cougars rode back-to-back shutouts by goaltender Griffen Outhouse to the championship round, sealing their berth with a 4-0 victory over the South Island Royals at Kin 1 on Saturday. They took Friday’s opener 5-0.
Conor MacEachern scored in the first, Alex Hanson and Keith Redden in the second and Steven Jandric in the third, his second goal in two nights, as the Cougars swept the best-of-three semi-final and ended the playoff hopes of the Royals.
The Cougars will host the Vancouver NE Chiefs in the BCMML final next weekend. The Chiefs swept the Greater Vancouver Canadians with 8-4 and 6-2 victories in this weekend’s other semi-final. And again the Cougars have home ice advantage on the strength of their first-place finish in the regular season. The NE Chiefs finished third in the standings.
