2,900 Customers Remain Without Power
Prince George, B.C. – BC Hydro expects power will be restored to roughly 2,900 customers in the region by 7:00 pm tonight.
“That is an estimate, that is subject to change,” says spokesman Bob Gammer. “So we are encouraging customers to just stay near their computers or mobile devices and just keep checking our website.”
Gammer says the majority of those outages (2,800) are in the Quesnel area (about 100 in Prince George) and says to call them if their power isn’t restored on time at 1-888-POWERON.
Meanwhile Lee Hill, managing partner with Porter & McMillan Insurance in Prince George, says Saturday was their busiest day in years.
“We were quite busy. We had 12 wind storm claims. They ranged from trees falling on houses to just trees coming down on property.”
He says damages varied.
“There were some trees, if they were right next to a house and ended up leaning against the house, may have had very little damage to a couple where a good sized tree didn’t come through the window and the ceiling but there’s some pretty major structural damage that needs to be fixed.”

so much for their wonderful inactive, dumb, smart meters telling them where the problems still are……
If you are sitting in the dark ,unable to cook , no tv , no internet , or the countless things one gets from having electricity at the other end of the switch . You just didn’t learn from the last hydro failure . I guess what you need is a two or three day failure .

I’m really surprised to hear you say that. I thought that you -out of all the regulars on this site- would be advocating for the government to do something to help these people out.
I’m surprised that you are surprised . I’ve been advocating that the government give the ordinary citizen the same deal that the run of the river projects get . If they did . a great many more of us would take control of their own power needs regardless of what the grid is doing .
Ataloss, you do have that option already. You can go on the BC Hydro website and read all about it.
Thanks slinky . I’ve been there many times . The standing offer is for one mega watt and up . the net metering is up to 100kw . You can’t run a serious business on 100kwh . The standing offer is really sweet , scads of tax breaks and a preferred rate paid for twenty five year contract . That a contract you can take to the bank . None of that is avalible to the little guy . They were supposed to impliment the FIT program three years ago but reneged .
