Local Wrestler Headed to Nationals
Prince George, B.C. – A local wrestler has muscled her way to the nationals in Fredericton, New Brunswick next month.
16 year old Tristina Howse of the PGSS Polars accomplished the feat after finishing in fourth place at the provincial championships two weeks ago in Abbotsford.
The grade 10 student says “it feels pretty good” to be the city’s lone participant in the event and notes she reached her goal through hard work and great coaching.
“It definitely took a lot of dedication but I wouldn’t have made it without my coach (Cris Monetta). He’s always been there for me in my corner cheering me on and helping me out along the way.”
Howse says she hopes “to bring something home” but says the experience alone will make her even better.
“I’m definitely hoping to bring home something for Prince George. Even getting the experience will help because I have a good chance in grade 12 of going to the nationals.”
She’s also looking for sponsors to help cover the expenses associated with the trip.
