UNBC Students to Host Information Session Tonight
Prince George, B.C. – A group of UNBC students is hosting an information session at the downtown branch of the Prince George Public Library tonight to discuss the school’s ongoing labour dispute.
They’ve invited the UNBC Faculty Association says spokesperson Shawn Caldera.
“The group of students I’m part of really want the student voice to be heard. We’ve already spoken to administration Monday to see where they’re at with negotiations,” he says. “So the point of tonight’s session is to get the same information to such questions as where are negotiations, where do you see this going?”
Caldera says the group of students behind the information session aren’t taking sides in the dispute.
“It’s not the graduate student society or the undergraduate society,” he says. “It’s just a bunch of students who don’t know what’s happening or whether there will be school tomorrow or a month from now. We don’t know anything so I guess that’s really the stance we’re trying to take.”
He says students still have a lot of questions following Monday’s meeting with administration.
“There was a lot of discussion about how they’re working hard at it but there’s been nothing solid and I guess it all depends on what the outcome of negotiations are. No solid you’ll get refunds (if the semester is cancelled) or if the semester will be extended.”
Tonight’s information session starts at 6:00 pm.
