McBride, BC – Few details are available at this time, but it’s believed two snowmobilers are missing following an avalanche that occurred earlier today in the Dore River drainage area near McBride.

North District Media Relations Officer, Corporal Dave Tyreman, says one person is confirmed missing and a second remains unaccounted for at this time.

Corporal Tyreman says the threat of subsequent slides poses a serious risk and, while searchers have been at the ready, they haven’t been allowed into the area yet.

It is believed that an avalanche technician has been called in to conduct an assessment, but no word on when searchers might be allowed into the area.
