Questions Abound at North Cariboo SPCA

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 @ 2:18 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The BC SPCA provincial office is checking into recent events at the North Cariboo branch in Prince George in which two staff members, including former Manager Angela McLaren, resigned along with members of the community council.

McLaren resigned March 20th, citing bullying within the branch office as the reason.  She had recently been on stress leave for five weeks.  She and SPCA fundraiser Andrea Sowers, who also resigned, took their complaint to the provincial office and to WorkSafeBC, both of which are investigating what is alleged to have been a longstanding situation involving some staff members.

In the meantime provincial headquarters in Vancouver has placed an interim manager in the Prince George office.  The North Cariboo branch annual general meeting is supposed to be held Tuesday night, a meeting which is supposed to  include the election of new members of the community council.  It is unclear whether that election will proceed.

Repeated attempts to contact both the North Cariboo branch and the provincial office in Vancouver have failed to produce further information on what is going on within the North Cariboo SPCA office.

I’m not quite understanding this. Who was doing the alleged bullying? And how is this “bullying” being defined?

My question would be if she was the manager, why didn’t she put a stop to it? Wouldn’t that be part of her job?

okay the story here is not near as indepth as on another site… so I withdraw my questions…
