Thursday, April 2, 2015 @ 3:45 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Three more scholarships are up for grabs in the Prince George School District this year.

There will be 10 Springboard to Success Scholarships handed to graduates this spring, up from the seven offered in 2014.

Springboard to Success Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement of 73% or greater, and show strong school service and leadership, and involvement in school sports and/or clubs.

If the recipient attends either CNC or UNBC, those schools will provide the student with a matching $1,000 tuition waiver effectively doubling the value of the scholarship.

The Springboard to Success Scholarship Endowment Fund is a partnership between the Prince George Community Foundation and School District 57.

The money for the scholarships are funded though an annual golf tournament at Alder Hills Golf Course.

Funds for the scholarships are also raised through the sale of surplus miscellaneous assets.

During this week’s Board of Education meeting a total of $17,000 in awards were announced.

Prince of Wales Scholarship – $3,000
Don Thorlakson Memorial Award – $1,000
A.L. Ford Memorial Scholarship – $1,000
Gairett MacIver Memorial Bursary – $1,000
John Stevens Memorial Scholarship – $1,000
Springboard to Success Scholarship – 10 awards at $1,000 each
