UNBC Contract Dispute Going to Binding Arbitration

Wednesday, April 1, 2015 @ 3:04 PM

Prince George, B.C. – The effort to come to terms on a first contract agreement between UNBC and the UNBC Faculty Association is going to binding arbitration.

According to the university’s web site the parties have  received the report and recommendation of Mediator Trevor Sones under Section 55 of the Labour Relations Code. The Mediator recommended that the parties settle their outstanding issues via binding arbitration before a single arbitrator or the Labour Relations Board.  The parties have been directed by the Associate Chair, Adjudication to proceed to arbitration.

The bargaining teams have twenty days to agree upon an arbitrator.   If they cannot  agree, the Board will appoint an arbitrator.

The release is issued on behalf of Dr. John Young, Acting Provost and Dr. Jacqueline Holler, UNBC Faculty Association President.
